Apparently, there’s a bit of a mini-brouhaha brewing over an incident that took place shortly before the start of the Penn State-Minnesota game this weekend.
As the Nittany Lions took to the field, PSU defensive end Jerome Hayes broke ranks from his teammates and made a beeline for a corner of the end zone. There, he knelt down, crossed himself, and seemed to be deep in prayer.
At the same time, Minnesota’s mascot, Goldy Gopher, dropped to one knee directly in front of Hayes and mimicked the player.
Me? Much ado over nothing. But, what do I know.
