Happy birthday, Coach Leach! Now, raise your right hand…

Today, former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach turns 49 years young, which is quite the accomplishment for a pirate, given the hazards of their jobs and all.

On Friday, the ex-coach will be deposed as his potential lawsuit against Tech continues to slog its way through the legal process.

Leach is scheduled to give a videotaped deposition in the Lubbock office of his attorney, Ted Liggett.  Also slated to be deposed at various points through this weekend are Tech Chancellor Kent Hance, ESPN college football analyst/helicopter dad Craig James and wide receiver Adam James — the son of Craig and the central figure in the firing of Leach.

All are appearing willingly according to Liggett.

“That’s standard procedure within the lawsuit,” the lawyer told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. “Everyone’s agreed. Nobody is being forced to do anything they don’t want to do.”

In another odd twist to this already bizarre case, Leach’s attorney, the Avalanche-Journal writes, “subpoenaed the Frenship Independent School District for records pertaining to Leach’s replacement, Tommy Tuberville, and his family.”

Apparently, Leach and his attorney are looking to prove that Tech made contact with Tuberville before he was officially fired from his job.  The school district has filed a motion to deny Leach access to their records.

As an aside, is there anyway these proceedings can shown on pay-per-view?  I’d be willing to shell out $29.99 — hell $49.99… ahhh, who am I kidding.  Just name a price and I’m there — to watch Leach and the James Gang deposed.  Somebody can make this happen, right?
