No Love for Bulls: USF WR tears ACL

For the second time in his career at South Florida, wide receiver A.J. Love has suffered a major knee injury, the school announced via press release Monday night.

The senior injured his knee during USF’s spring game Saturday, and further testing confirmed that he tore the ACL in his right knee.  There was no mention in the release as to exactly how long Love would be out, or whether he would — as the timing of the injury would seem to indicate — miss the entire 2010 season.

Love’s 26 receptions in 2009 were second on the team, behind now-departed Carlton Mitchell‘s 40 catches.

Love’s best season as a Bull came as he had returned from a torn ACL in the other knee.  During the team’s St. Petersburg Bowl appearance in 2008, Love tore the ACL in his left knee, but returned in time for the start of the 2009 season.
