Don't look now, but the 'Cuse is loose!

There was nothing pretty about the 13-9 win Syracuse handed to South Florida Saturday, but hey, the Orange are 4-1 for the first time since 1999.

Something tells me they’ll be partying like it, too.

Yes, two of their four wins have come against 1-AA opponents. Yes, the only real game they’ve played (against Washington), they’ve lost. Yes, the Big East has been nothing short of dreadful this season.

And that’s exactly why Syracuse has a chance to become bowl eligible for the first time since 2004.

A tough manageable schedule remains for Doug Marrone‘s team for the next three weeks. Syracuse faces Pitt, WVU and Cincinnati in consecutively, with the latter two being on the road. If Syracuse can manage one win in that stretch, their next four games come against Louisville, Rutgers, UConn and Boston College.

The Orange will need three more wins (seven total) to become bowl eligible, as FBS schools can only count one win against an FCS opponent to bowl eligibility.
