Three players who appeared on last season’s list headlines this year’s list of Butkus Award semifinalists, the award’s selection committee announced this morning.
Michigan State’s Greg Jones (gotta be the front-runner, no?), Oklahoma’s Travis Lewis and Texas A&M’s Von Miller all make repeat appearances on the list of 2010 semifinalists for the award given to the top linebacker in college football.
Perhaps the most noteworthy absence is that of Boston College’s Mark Herzlich, who made the list last year despite not playing as he was in the midst of a fight with cancer. BC is represented on the list, however, by Herzlich’s teammate Luke Kuechly.
The ACC tops all conferences on the list with four players, followed by the Pac-10 and Big 12 with three apiece, and the SEC with two.
