After suffering a concussion in Arkansas’ loss to Auburn last weekend, Ryan Mallett spent a portion of the ensuing week knocking down speculation that he had injured his shoulder on the same play he was concussed.
Saturday, the quarterback suffered of a verified injury to the shoulder, although it appears — stressing the word “appears” — to be minor in nature.
Following the first of what turned out to be two lightning-related delays in the second half, Mallett did not return to the game due to a shoulder injury. The junior remained on the sidelines for the rest of the game as the Razorbacks went on to down Ole Miss 38-24.
Following the win, head coach Bobby Petrino said the injury was not severe and his starter should be ready to play next week against Vanderbilt.
