Sherman not certain on Aggies starting QB this weekend

The drumbeat for a change at the quarterback position for Texas A&M has grown increasingly louder in recent weeks.

Head coach Mike Sherman finally kinda, sorta pulled the trigger Saturday, sitting starter Jerrod Johnson and replacing him with backup Ryan Tannehill.  Whether that change will remain in place this weekend and beyond, however, remains to be seen.

Sherman said Monday that he was uncertain who would be his starter this weekend against Texas Tech.  The coach didn’t give an as to when a decision would be made and/or announced.

Johnson was pulled in the second quarter of the win over Kansas with the Aggies up just 17-10 on the 2-5 Jayhawks.  Tannehill threw three touchdown passes as A&M won going away 45-10.

(Writer’s note: Thanks to the reader who reminded us that Johnson also started the third quarter before giving way to Tannehil again midway through the period.)
