Sooner assistants get a bump in pay


Courtesy of the benevolence of Oklahoma’s board, Bob Stoops‘ coaching staff is a little bit heavier in the wallet this evening than when they woke up this morning.

According to the Dallas Morning News, raises for all nine members of Stoops’ staff were approved by the OU Board of Trustees Wednesday.

Quarterbacks coach Josh Heupel received the biggest increase, getting a $50,000 bump that puts him at $250,000 this year.  Both coordinators received $45,000 increases; offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson will make $430,000 this year, while defensive counterpart Brent Venables will take in $440,000.

The three remaining offensive assistants will receive raised of $20,000, while the three on the defensive side of the ball received $16,500.

All told, the nine coaches were given raises that totaled nearly $250,000.
