ESPN‘s Brian Bennett has reported that current Connecticut starting quarterback Michael Box will not play this Friday against West Virginia due to a concussion. The redshirt freshman started in place of dismissed quarterback Cody Endres in a 26-0 loss to Louisville in week eight. Endres was kicked off the team by coach Randy Edsall for failing his third drug test.
UConn’s official medical report has Box listed as “out” and Edsall said Box is still experiencing concussion-like symptoms.
Replacing Box will be senior Zach Frazer, had a brief stint as UConn’s starting quarterback in 2009.
