Boston College safety done for season, career

On the heels of Kevin Riley‘s potential career ending knee injury, there’s word out of Boston College that safety Wes Davis is wisely hanging up his helmet as well.

Davis was carted off the field in BC’s 24-21 loss to Maryland in week eight, suffering a severe neck injury. Davis spent the night at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and was released the next day.

It was the second major neck injury suffered by the fifth-year senior in three years. According to The Boston Globe, Davis consulted with doctors and family members before deciding to call it quits.

Certainly, Davis’ decision has to be disappointing, but when it comes to a players’ health — especially in the neck/spine area — it was the right one.
