Forgettable season for Gamecocks DB Culliver continues

2010 has been one of those seasons South Carolina’s Chris Culliver would like to hit the rewind button on and start over.

The senior defensive back was forced to sit out the season opener as the NCAA looked into an insurance policy he had taken out on himself to protect his draft status against injury.  After being cleared to play following that mini-probe, Culliver struggled somewhat in coverage and was not playing anywhere near his 2009 level, although, in fairness, he was playing a different position.

Now, Culliver has a significant injury to place atop what’s been a truly forgettable season for him personally.

Culliver suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the Gamecocks’ win over Tennessee Saturday.  The injury Will Likely knock the safety-turned-cornerback out for the remainder of the season.

Junior C.C. Whitlock will replace Culliver in the starting lineup.
