Greg Reid one of two hit with one-game suspensions by FSU

The opponent’s Charleston Southern, though, so does it really matter?

Regardless, Florida State announced Tuesday that starting cornerback/punt returner extraordinaire Greg Reid as well as the Seminoles’ co-starter at middle linebacker, Telvin Smith, have been suspended for this weekend’s game the Div. 1-AA (FCS) school.  The reason behind the suspension? The ever-popular unspecified violations of team rules.

The school had no further comment on the twin suspensions.

Reid started all 14 games as a true sophomore last season, and as a true freshman the year before he led the nation in punt return average at 18.4 yards per return.  He averaged 17.8 yards on four returns in the opener.

Avis Commack and Nick Waisom are listed as the co-backups behind Reid.

Smith, who was Reid’s teammate in high school, played in all 14 games as a true freshman in 2010.  He was listed as a co-starter with Vince Williams on FSU’s most recent depth chart.
