Brigham Young vs. Tulsa
Dec. 30, Noon ET, ESPN
At Dallas
The newly independent Cougars have collected nine victories, but only one of them came at the expense of a team that finished with a winning record. And that was 7-5 Utah State. Yawn.
Getting another over the Golden Hurricane won’t be easy for BYU (9-3).
Tulsa (8-4) won all eight of its games against unranked opponents, usually in forceful fashion, courtesy of senior quarterback G.J. Kinne, who triggers a balanced attack that averages 454 yards and 34 points per game.
Cougar QB Riley Nelson will find some success going against Tulsa’s forgiving pass defense, which has yielded 3,472 yards through the air this season. But that number is inflated due to a rugged schedule that included Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Boise State and Houston.
In winning their last three bowl games, the Golden Hurricane have manhandled the opposition, scoring a grand total of 170 points in the process.
