Yankee Stadium still possible for future Army-Notre Dame series

The Army-Notre Dame rivalry has lost nearly all of its luster, but if you’re a nostalgic, there might be some good news for you yet.

Army athletic director Boo Corrigan confirmed to the Times Herald-Record that the two sides are in discussions about a future series.

“We’re working through details with the University of Notre Dame on a series,” Corrigan said. “It’s coming in the future. We’re excited about a series that we are going to play with them.”

Army and Notre Dame have met 50 times in their history with the last game being in 2010 in Yankee Stadium, a 27-3 win by the Irish. Plans to return the game to Yankee Stadium reportedly previously fell through, but Corrigan said New York City is still a possibility.

“My place (Michie Stadium), their place (South Bend), the Yankees place, wherever else,” Corrigan said regarding the location of the games. “We are in the final throes.”

But don’t count on the Irish heading to West Point. The last time Notre Dame made that trip was 1973.
