TCU’s O-line depth takes hit with departure

Academics have been an issue for TCU offensive lineman James Dunbar since last season. On Tuesday, it was made official that Dunbar failed to uphold the “student” part of “student-athlete.”

Coach Gary Patterson announced that Dunbar was no longer part of the team — something that was expected for some time. Dunbar had already missed parts of fall camp because of academic issues.

Still, Dunbar headed into camp atop the depth chart at right tackle for an offensive line unit that was already replacing three starters from a year ago. He also played in 18 games over the past two seasons, so the much-needed experience was there.

TCU’s updated depth chart shows BYU transfer Tayo Fabuluje as the starting left tackle, junior Eric Tausch at left guard and true freshman Aviante Collins at right tackle. The two returning starters from 2011 are senior center James Fry and senior right guard Blaize Foltz.
