Well, that’s one way to get kicked off the team.

A statement released by Nebraska Thursday evening said defensive end Ernest Suttles and linebacker Thomas Brown had been dismissed from the team after an altercation at a player’s house off campus.

“We are aware of an incident involving student-athletes which occurred off campus over the weekend. We are working with the University’s Dean of Students in gathering further details. We will continue to review the incident,” the statement read. “Further, head football coach Bo Pelini has announced that Ernest Suttles and Thomas Brown are no longer members of the football program.”

According to Lincoln Police, Suttles was cited for assaulting Huskers linebacker David Santos (pictured) after hitting Santos in the head with a bottle during a fight. Brown has not been cited and his involvement in the incident is unknown at the time.

Santos only required stitches for a cut; the bottle was not so lucky.

Santos started two games for Nebraska last year and is expected to be a key contributor on defense this year. Suttles was a three-star member 0f the Huskers’ 2013 recruiting class, and Brown redshirted in 2012 and was in position to compete for a starting job this fall.
