NCAA grants sixth year of eligibility for Northwestern’s McEvilly

Northwestern defensive lineman Sean McEvilly has been granted a sixth year of eligibility by the NCAA, allowing the Wildcat to return to play football in 2015. The school announced the NCAA’s decision Thursday.

McEvilly suffered a foot injury prior to the 2014 season that would require him to miss the entire 2014 season. A foot injury slowed him down in 2013, but the school applied for a medical redshirt from the NCAA.

It was expected McEvilly would be a starter on Northwestern’s defensive line this fall, but C.J. Robbins and Greg Kuhar have bene able to hold the fort down in the middle of the defensive line this season. Northwestern has won three games in a row on the strength of the defense, allowing no more than 14-point sin each victory.
