Reports confirm Lincoln Riley is now heading to Oklahoma

It appears there was some backbone to the buzz surrounding Oklahoma’s new offensive coordinator. Lincoln Riley has reportedly accepted a job offer to become the new offensive coordinator of the Oklahoma Sooners. Riley will leave East Carolina to take the job at Oklahoma.

Thayer Evans of Sports Illustrated was the first to report the job offer being accepted by Riley. Other reports soon followed.

As previously discussed, Riley is considered one of the top young offensive minds in the coaching game today. The 31-year old Riley coached East Carolina’s offense to the five highest single-season passing totals in program history, and he is expected to help open up the passing game in Norman. Given the trend of success within the Big 12, that could be very much needed for the Sooners. Success should not have to wait very long to be achieved in Norman either, given the wealth of talent Oklahoma manages to pull into the program. Give Riley a quarterback with an arm to work with, and Oklahoma could storm back to the top of the Big 12 in a short period of time (they do not have that far to go).
