Well, I guess we can close the door on that fun little topic that developed during Monday night’s College Football Playoff national championship game. Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones said in a day-after press conference this morning he did not feel he was ready to play in the NFL.
“In my personal opinion, I’m not ready for that level yet,” Jones said Tuesday during a day-after press conference in Dallas. “I mean, like coach [Urban] Meyer said, it’s a conversation me and him will have later down the road. But to me right now, it’s far out.”
So, will he be back in Columbus in 2015? This also remains a question, as Ohio State has a crowded quarterback situation at the moment. As it stands at the moment, Ohio State has a national championship winning quarterback in Jones, a quarterback who entered 2014 with preseason Heisman Trophy hype in Braxton Miller and a quarterback who was deserving of Heisman consideration in J.T. Barrett. It is widely expected Ohio State will lose one quarterback to a transfer, but that is not yet a definite decision.
