Ex-‘Cuse DT Ryan Sloan drops down to FCS level

Two months after a somewhat messy divorce from Syracuse, Ryan Sloan has found a new college football home.

On Instagram earlier this week, Sloan (pictured, top right) announced that he would be continuing his collegiate playing career at Stony Brook.  As the Seawolves play at the FCS level, and because he will be a grad transfer, Sloan will be eligible to play immediately in 2015.

Upon his departure from the ‘Cuse, the defensive tackle leveled unspecific and vague accusations against either the university or the football program or both.

“After multiple long conversations with my step parents (who strongly suggested that I stay a fifth year), I came to the decision that I didn’t want to come back,” Sloan said. “I didn’t feel like it was the right place for me anymore. There were a couple of incidents that happened over the past two years that made me realize ‘Cuse wasn’t the right place for me.”

Sloan played 14 games the past two seasons, including a career-high 10 in 2014.
