Ole Miss DT Robert Nkemdiche injured after fall at Atlanta hotel

Ole Miss defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche was injured after suffering a fall at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta hotel, police revealed Sunday.

The incident report Atlanta P.D. provided to NBC Sports noted Nkemdiche fell “approximately 15 feet.”
At approximately 2318 hours, Zone Two units responded to a person injured call where a male had fallen from a hotel room window. Upon arrival, the victim was conscious and breathing. He was transported to Grady Memorial and was in stable condition. Inside the hotel room, units located a small amount of suspected marijuana. The window was also broken out. It appears that the victim broke the window and then walked approximately 15 feet and climbed over a wall and fell approximately 15 feet. GI Squad and the Narcotics Unit responded to the scene along with the Crime Scene Unit. It should be noted that the injured person is Robert Nkemdiche, a football player from Ole Miss

“We are still learning about the matter, but obviously Robert’s wellbeing is our greatest concern,” Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze said in a statement to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger.

Named to the AP All-America second team Sunday, Nkedmiche has posted 29 tackles and three sacks in his junior season while posting one rushing touchdowns and a 31-yard touchdown reception. He is regarded as a likely first-round pick in this spring’s NFL Draft.

Nkemdiche and No. 12 Ole Miss are set to face No. 16 Oklahoma State in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day (8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN).
