Noel Mazzone returns to UCLA practice after health scare

There appears to be good news on the health front for a key piece of Jim Mora‘s UCLA coaching staff.

It was reported earlier this week that offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone was hospitalized in intensive care after developing blood clots in one of his lungs.  While the school confirmed that the coach was hospitalized, they declined to get into specifics, saying only that “Coach Mazzone is resting comfortably, in good spirits and looking forward to getting back with the team as soon as possible.”

As it turns out, “as soon as possible” was a couple of days as Mazzone returned to the practice field Thursday as UCLA continued its preparations for Nebraska in the Foster Farms Bowl.  It was Mazzone’s first practice appearance since Monday.

There’s still no official word on Mazzone’s availability for the Dec. 26 bowl game.
