Proving he’s still one of the most entertaining men in college football, Jim Harbaugh even has an interesting explanation for his choice in eyewear.
Third-ranked Michigan had little problem dispatching overmatched Illinois earlier Saturday, jumping out to 31-0 halftime lead and cruising to a 41-8 win in the Big House. The Wolverines are now 7-0 on the season, winning those games by a combined score of 341-70.
Facing a now-2-5 Illini team, anyone could have seen the home woodshedding coming.
Especially, as it turns out, their head coach thanks to some new spectacles that were eerily similar to a legend on the other side of the greatest rivalry in all of sports.

After the game, Harbaugh explained that he was told earlier this month by his eye doctor that he’d be forced to wear eyeglasses moving forward. The coach also identified the inspirations, plural, behind his choice.
“This style in particular is a tip of the cap, a nod to Woody Hayes, to Michael Douglas in the movie “Falling Down” and also a tip of the cap to Malcolm X,” Harbaugh said. “In honor of those three men.”
Please, don’t ever change, Jim.
